여성의 역할에 대한 사회적 통념이 지속되는 이유를 한국의 민간신앙인 아궁이 여신의 일화에서 찾아보고자 했다. 조왕신으로도 불리는 아궁이여신은 부엌의 아궁이에서 기거하며 집안의 길흉화복을 담당한다고 전해진다. 이때 부엌에 있는 조왕신을 모시며 집안의 불씨를꺼지지않게 지키는 것은 여자의 몫 이었고 이러한 믿음은 여성의 활동범위를 대문과 멀리 떨어진 부엌으로 한정시키는 시대상을 반영한다. 작품은 이러한 믿음을 전복하는서사를 담고있다.

The work seeks to explore the reasons behind the persistence of societal norms regarding women's roles, drawing from the Korean folk belief in the kitchen goddess, Agungi Yeoshin. Also known as Jowangshin, the kitchen goddess is said to reside in the household hearth, overseeing the family’s fortune and well-being. Traditionally, it was the woman's duty to worship Jowangshin in the kitchen and ensure that the household fire never extinguished. This belief reflects a historical reality where women's activities were confined to the kitchen, far removed from the main gate of the home. The piece presents a narrative that subverts this traditional belief.
